Two months after its deadline, a Group of Ministers GoM constituted to look into the pay revision demands of the Armed Forces submitted its report to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. While the contents of the report have not been revealed, at least one of the three main demands put forward by the Armed Forces has been accepted by the GoM.
Sources said that the committee, that has been working on the report for close to three months, submitted its reccomendations on Monday morning. Earlier, Defence Ministry officials had said that the demand for higher pension for jawans had been approved in principle by the committee.
The two other major demands put up by the forces was moving Lt Col equivalent officers to the Pay Band 4 to take them at par with their civilian counterparts and upgrading Lt Gen level officers to the HAG grade.
The Prime Minister will now take a decision on the pay revision demands of the Armed Forces after studying the report.
