Former Punjab DGP S S Virk seems headed for more trouble with the Punjab Government deciding to move a new chargesheet against him, including unethical political activities and funding of elections. Punjab will issue the chargesheet through the Maharashtra Government, Virk8217;s parent cadre, on the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs. A copy of the chargesheet will be sent to the Home Secretary of Maharashtra soon, said the sources.
The process started on June 8 when the Punjab Government received a letter from the MHA referring to rule 7 1 b i of the All India Service Disciplinary and Appeal Rules 1969 that as Virk is alleged to had committed acts of omission while he was working with Punjab Government, it is for the state to probe these misconducts and initiate disciplinary proceedings against him.
Virk, currently posted as Director General Housing said, 8220;I do not think this is legally possible, and I have not heard of any such development. I think the Punjab Government was caught on the wrong foot in some matter in the High Court there, and if true,nbsp;this is just a ploy to start some controversy.8221;
