
Wijk Aan Zee Holland, Jan 21: Viswanathan Anand drew his third successive game but remained joint second as strong contenders Garry Kasparov and Vladimir Kramnik moved further ahead with wins in the fifth round of the Corus Super Grandmasters Chess tournament on Thursday.
Anand, the World number two, was held by Judit Polgar of Hungary and was lying second with three points in the company of Hungarian Peter Leko and overnight joint leader Jeroen Piket, who lost to Bosnian Predrag Nikolic 2.5.
World No 1 Kasparov and his Russian compatriot Kramnik were leading the table with four points from five games while five players Nigel Short, Viktor Korchnoi, Michael Adams, Alexander Morozevich and Jan Timman were joint third with 2.5 points each.
