MUMBAI, December 4: The Gamdevi police have arrested five persons in connection with the collapse of the scaffolding of 20-storeyed Sterling Apartments in Viveksingh lane, Peddar Road, on Thursday.The partners of Painterior India construction company, Firdaus oorani Merchant and his brothers Imran and Asif, engineer Moinuddin Sheikh (34) and supervisor Sudhir Shinde (32) were arrested late last night on charges of negligence. A case has been registered against them.Meanwhile, two more labourers succumbed to their injuries today, taking the toll in the tragedy to thirteen. While one died at Nair Hospital, another died at Jaslok. The condition of another labourer admitted to Nair hospital was reported to be critical, while that of four others in Jaslok hospital was stable.A total of 43 labourers were employed for the renovation work of the 20-storeyed building, when the iron scaffolding came crashing down yesterday.
