Sonnalli follows this technique for her skin health (Source: Sonnalli Seygall/Instagram)Starting your mornings on the right note is not only beneficial for overall health but also for your skin. While cleansing, moisturising, and protecting it using an SPF are common practices, Sonnalli Seygall goes the mile extra to perform the ‘100 splashes technique’ every morning. But, what is it? Simply put, it involves splashing cold water on your face 100 times!
“Splashing water (preferably cold) on my face 100 times first thing in the morning just does the trick for me!” she wrote, alongside a video of her practising this technique. Sharing that she is “in love with this hack”, Sonnalli mentioned that this method “instantly tightens my face and makes the pores appear smaller.”

Here are some benefits of ‘100 splashes techniques’, as shared by Sonnalli.
*It depuffs the face.
*It reduces acne.
*It regulates sebum.
*It reduces the size of pores.
*It invigorates you.
*It tightens the skin.
*It immediately brightens the skin.
Talking about the same, Dr Narendra Shetty, Chief Wellness Officer, Kshemavana said that the technique of splashing water on the face is commonly referred to as ‘face splashing’ or simply ‘splashing water on the face’. “This technique is often used to refresh and cool down the skin, especially during hot weather or after physical activity. It can also serve as a quick and simple way to wake up or invigorate oneself in the morning or after a long day,” he said.
To perform the technique of splashing water on the face, Dr Shetty said that you can follow these simple steps:
*Start by filling a bowl or sink with cool or lukewarm water. Make sure the water is not too hot, as hot water can irritate and dry out the skin.
*Lean over the bowl or sink and submerge your face in the water. Alternatively, you can dip a clean washcloth or small towel in the water and use it to splash your face.
*Splash the water on your face gently and evenly, using your hands or the washcloth/towel. Make sure to cover your entire face, including your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin.
*If desired, you can repeat the splashing a few times to ensure that your face is thoroughly refreshed and cool.
*Pat your face dry with a clean towel or let it air-dry naturally.
Dr Shetty said that the benefits may vary from person to person and it is important to listen to your skin’s needs. “Always seek out individualised guidance from a dermatologist if you have certain skin issues or conditions. It’s important to note that everyone’s skin is different, so if you experience any discomfort or irritation while splashing water on your face, you may want to adjust the temperature or pressure of the water or try a different method of refreshing your skin,” he concluded.
