Here are tips to make your home full of personality and colour. (Source: Unsplash) Whether it is celebrity weddings (think Parineeti Chopra or Alia Bhatt), or home decor, pastels and beiges have been ruling across the board for some time. But now? Not so much. According to Rahul Mistri, founder & principal designer at Open Atelier, the market is oversaturated with these muted colours.
Pastels and beiges lack the boldness and uniqueness that brighter colours bring, explained Devika Khosla, creative director at The Works Interiors, which might also be the reason why they’re losing their appeal.
From Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s grand palatial mansion in Kolkata to Anoushka Shankar’s cultural home or Aahana Kumra’s pink bachelorette pad, our favourite celebrities have decorated their homes with splashes of colours that reflect their personality.

What makes your home your own? The way you personalise it. And how can you personalise your space with neutral colours? For your individuality and self-expression to shine through, pastels — despite their charm — often lack that level of uniqueness. Khosla agrees.
Your home is your personal sanctuary, and here are tips on how you can transform the interiors into a characterful sanctum.
Determine your style: Take the time to identify your personal style and what defines you. This can be contemporary, minimalist, rustic, or any other aesthetic that aligns with your preferences. It’s crucial to establish a foundation that represents your taste.
Display personal items: Incorporate personal items, such as photographs, artwork, or heirlooms, throughout your home. These items serve as reminders of sentimental value and can significantly contribute to the overall atmosphere of a space, showcasing your personality and creating a meaningful environment.
Select colours wisely: Choose colours that resonate with you and evoke the emotions and feelings you want your space to convey. For instance, you may prefer refreshing pastels instead of understated ones. You might like a bold, energetic accent wall while keeping the rest of the interior scheme muted.

Customise your space: Consider customising your home by incorporating unique elements representing your interests and passions. This could include built-in bookshelves to display your extensive book collection or a dedicated space for your hobbies or artwork. Customisation allows you to infuse your personality into every aspect of your home.
Layer different textures: Infuse your home with character and vibrant hues by using bold colour combinations that you like, layering with textures and patterns, and incorporating unique decor pieces that reflect your one of a kind style
Make your own rules: There are no rules when it comes to your home. Just do whatever feels right.
