What to keep in mind?

*Always do a test patch for allergies, said Bhagyashree.

Dr Reema Arora, medical director and founder, The Face Clinic, Hauz Khas said that whilst scrubbing and exfoliating is good for skin, it should be ensured the ingredients must be appropriate for individual skin type. “Though aloe vera is a good product, quite a few people are allergic to this. It’s important to consult your doctor before trying any DIY scrub,” said Dr Arora.

For healthy skin adhere to the following protocols, according to Dr Vandana Punjabi, senior consultant, dermatology, Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai

“Avoid potential pitfalls by steering clear from using the scrub on sensitive facial areas and restricting usage to avoid over-exfoliation, which might strip away essential oils from your skin. Moreover, be vigilant about the shelf life of your mixture to prevent skin irritations due to spoilage,” said Dr Punjabi.

Lastly, if your skin is under the care of a dermatologist, seek their opinion before starting such a routine, add Dr Punjabi.
