If you’re in the habit of drinking a soft drink with every meal, stop right now. We don’t need to wax poetic about the many health disadvantages of drinking cold drinks too much because we’re sure you are aware. So let us tell you what happens when you stop drinking cold drinks, even for a month.

Dr Somnath Gupta, a physician at Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, said, “Quitting cold drinks for a month can have positive effects on weight, hydration, and digestion. Your hydration levels will improve with your cravings going down because your sugar and caffeine intake will decrease exponentially after giving up cold drinks for a month.”

“Your body temperature regulation may also normalise as it’s not constantly exposed to cold beverages,” he added.

Of course, this also means an improvement in dental health “as enamel erosion and cavities are known to increase with sweetened beverage consumption,” according to Dr Gude.

If you’ve been trying to lose weight, there’s good news for you as cutting out cold drinks can aid in weight loss since you’re reducing your daily calorie intake. “Mild early diabetics may even become prediabetic or nondiabetics because of improved insulin sensitivity,” explained Dr Gude.

You will notice clearer skin, with less dryness and acne issues. Your energy levels and agility will rise. You will even experience better mood hence a better sleep cycle.
