Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flags off ‘Children of the State Tour’
A total of 52 children from various CCIs in the state are participating in the tour, which will continue till January 15.
The chief minister directed officials to ensure the safety and well-being of the children throughout the tour.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday flagged off a “Children of the State Tour” under the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana, aimed at the holistic development of children residing in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) in Himachal Pradesh.
Interacting with the children before flagging off their tour, the chief minister encouraged them to make the most of the educational and exposure tour. “This will help you gain knowledge, experience diverse cultures and broaden your understanding of the country,” he said.
A total of 52 children from various CCIs in the state are participating in the tour, which will continue till January 15. During the journey, the children will visit several major cities and important historical, cultural and educational sites across the country.
Sukhu said the state government, under the Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana, was committed not only to the care and protection of vulnerable children but also to creating opportunities for their secure and dignified future. He said the tour aims to promote national integration and provide exposure to India’s cultural heritage, modern infrastructure and leading educational institutions.
As per the itinerary, the children will travel to Chandigarh, Delhi, Agra and Goa using various modes of transport, including Volvo buses, rail and air travel. In Delhi, they will visit landmarks such as the Red Fort, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Raj Ghat and national museums, while the Agra leg includes a visit to the Taj Mahal. In Goa, the children will visit beaches, churches and temples, and enjoy a cruise and tour the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services.
