UGC team arrives in Dharamshala to probe death of a 19-year-old student

The court issued a notice to Kangra police to file its reply on the bail application of the woman suspect by January 14.

The defence counsel said, “The woman student joined the ongoing investigation today as a condition set up by the court of law that she would be present before the police whenever she would be called. We are cooperating with the police.”

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the victim’s father recorded his statement under Section 183 of BNSS, 2023, before a local magistrate in Dharamahala, reiterating charges he levelled against the accused persons, sources said, adding that three of the four accused students and the assistant professor joined the police investigation.

The five-member committee of the Directorate of Higher Education includes Additional Director Dr Harish, Dhalyara College Principal Dr Anju R Chauhan, Baijnath College Principal Dr Pradeep Kumar Kaundal, and Naura College Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar. The team also examined documents of the college’s anti-ragging committee and recorded the version of the accused assistant professor.
