Sonakshi Sinha answers if Sanjay Leela Bhansali throws phones at actors in rage, says he taunted when she refused to shoot the same scene 17th time: ‘Lazy ho…’

Sonakshi Sinha shared that she opened up and became comfortable with Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the process and felt deeply involved, like it was a collaboration.

Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha, who is currently seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, has opened up about her experience of working with the filmmaker. Calling him one of the best directors in the world, Sonakshi dismissed claims that he throws phones at actors in anger or reacts with fury. While admitting she was nervous at first, she said that he ultimately appreciated her vision. Sonakshi also revealed a scene that required 16 takes.

Sonakshi opened up about working with SLB and said in an interview with Zoom, “I won’t lie, I was a bit nervous. But when he did start working with me, he enjoyed what I was doing, he enjoyed what I was bringing to his vision, he enjoyed working with me, and then I automatically sort of eased up.”

The actor said, “Right now there’s nobody in the world who does cinema like him. There’s nobody in the country for sure who does cinema like him. So if he has someone adding to his vision and kind of just being in sync with his vision, he’s very happy. The moment someone messes with that, you do go into a tizzy.”

Sonakshi recalled a scene involving her and Manisha Koirala which was shot almost 16 times. When she finally told Bhansali that they might have got the shot, the filmmaker had a hilarious reply.

She said, “There was this one scene where Mallikajaan spoils my Nathutrayi, drops the money and leaves. I have to look really humiliated, really angry, but just that pain had to come through. So we did about 15-16 takes of that. I knew that he had got it in the second or third take only. He kept making adjustments. So on the 16th shot, I’m the kind of actor who, I find it very monotonous and I feel I get repetitive when I do too many takes. He asked me, ‘you think we got it? You think you want to do one more?’ So I said no sir I think you’ve got. He immediately said, ‘Bohot lazy ho gayi ho tum.’”

In an interview with India Today, Sonakshi was asked about SLB throwing phones at actors in rage. The actor denied such rumours and said, “Absolute rumours! But yes, he is a taskmaster, I won’t deny that. But, he deserves every bit of it because see the kind of work and magic that he creates, right?”
