Devi Sri Prasad accepts rift with Pushpa 2 producers at ‘Kissik’ launch: ‘You have more complaints about me than love’
At the Pushpa 2: The Rule pre-release event in Chennai, composer Devi Sri Prasad addressed rumours about being sidelined by the producers. DSP also accused them of not giving him due credit for his work.

For National award-winning composer Devi Sri Prasad, it has been a tumultuous couple of weeks. There were widespread speculations that Mythri Movie Makers, who are backing Pushpa 2: The Rule, have roped in composers Thaman, Ajaneesh Lokanath and Sam CS to take care of the background score of the much-awaited sequel. With Thaman confirming this update, not many were sure why this sudden decision was made by the makers of the Allu Arjun directorial. Incidentally, there were also reports that Devi Sri Prasad was being replaced as the composer in Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly, which is also backed by the same production house.
At the pre-release event for Pushpa 2: The Rule in Chennai, Devi Sri Prasad minced no words to express his displeasure over being at the receiving end of relentless scrutiny from the film’s makers. Addressing the controversy over reports that the makers had to approach other composers because he was delaying the work on the background score, Devi Sri Prasad said, “Ravi (Shankar) sir, you’ve been blaming me saying that I didn’t deliver the song or the background score on time. I know you love me. Where there is love, there are complaints as well. But, I think you have more complaints about me than love.”
The composer went on to tell the crowds that this rift between him and his producers wasn’t just relegated to his work in Pushpa 2: The Rule. “Even now, I came to the venue 20-25 minutes ago. They asked me to wait to make an entry for the camera. When I heard the song Kissik being played, I came running. As soon as I arrived, you said, ‘Wrong timing, sir. You’re late’. What can I do? If I had to address these separately, there’s no kick. I am always open.”
This has created a major stir in the Telugu cinema fraternity as it is not often that such big names wash their dirty linen in public. Talking to his fans in the city, during the event, Devi Sri Prasad added, “If we want anything, we need to ask and get it. If you don’t ask, they won’t give – whether it’s the payment from producers or the credit on screen.”
Pushpa 2 Budget
Meanwhile, the makers haven’t addressed this development publicly yet, as they are fully training their focus on ensuring that Pushpa 2; The Rule, reportedly made on a massive budget of Rs 400-500 crore, emerges as the next big blockbuster from Telugu cinema. With expectations riding high on the sequel, the makers expect Pushpa 2: The Rule to be the newest entry into the elite Rs 1000 crore club.
Pushpa 2 Release Date
The much-awaited sequel is set to hit the theatres on December 5, and will be released in Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, and Hindi. The sequel, which continues from where the 2021 film left off, will feature Allu Arjun as Pushparaj, Rashmika Mandanna as Srivalli, and Fahadh Faasil as Bhanwar Singh Shekawat. Incidentally, Pushpa was the film that got both Allu Arjun and Devi Sri Prasad their maiden National awards.
