Suriya’s Kanguva postponed to November 14, to avert clash with Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan
Kanguva was intially supposed to release on Dussehra, October 10, and was going to clash with Rajinikanth's film Vettaiyan.

Over the last few years, South cinema has been delivering some epic films on a Pan-India level. And it has a promising line-up to offer this year as well. Amongst the upcoming films, Kanguva starring Suriya, and Vettaiyan starring Rajinikanth are the big releases, and the two were to clash at the box office. Kanguva also stars Disha Patani and Bobby Deol in important roles. Now, to avert a clash with Rajnikanth’s film, Kanguva has been postponed. The film has gotten a new release date, November 14.
The makers of this action-fantasy film directed by Siva took to X to make the official announcement. They wrote, “The Battle of Pride and Glory, for the World to Witness. Kanguva’s mighty reign storms screen from 14-11-24.” Initially, Kanguva was slated to be released on Dussehra, October 10, and was clashing with Rajinikanth’s film Vettaiyan.

As per reports, Kanguva is said to be mounted on an estimated budget of Rs 350 crores. The film’s scale is said to be more grand than that of Pushpa, Singham, etc. The film is a period drama, shot in seven different countries. Billed as a magnum opus already, Kanguva will also feature the biggest-ever war sequence seen in an Indian film with 10000 people involved.

Other than Suriya, Bobby, and Disha, Kanguva also stars Jagapathi Babu, Natarajan Subramaniam, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, and KS Ravikumar in supporting roles. The film was initially announced in 2019, but was shelved due to Covid-19, however, it was revived in 2022, and its shoot was wrapped up in 2024. Suriya will be seen in a double role in the film and will have some battle sequences with Bobby too.
Vettaiyan, on the other hand, is an action drama that also marks Amitabh Bachchan’s Tamil debut. This will be Rajinikanth’s 170th film and will be directed by TJ Gnanavel. The film also stars Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier in important roles.
