Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked regal as she thanked her fans for the love they showered on the Ponniyin Selvan films. The actor was in Chennai to attend the audio and trailer launch event of the Mani Ratnam directorial.

Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Wednesday graced the trailer and audio launch event of Mani Ratnam’s highly awaited epic drama, Ponniyin Selvan 2. Aishwarya plays a double role in the feature, as Nandini and the mysterious figure of Mandakini, who attempts to save Jayam Ravi’s Ponniyin Selvan towards the end of the first film.

Aishwarya looked her lovely self at the event as she donned a pink salwar-suit for the function. The actor spoke about the highly-anticipated magnum opus, and her collaboration and experience of working with Tamil cinema giant Mani Ratnam. Ratnam and Aishwarya have previously collaborated on Iruvar, Raavan and Guru.

As she made her way to the function, Aishwarya Rai stopped to speak to the media. Thanking the audience for their love for the franchise, the actor said, “You have given us so much love and appreciation, as a team we are truly overwhelmed. We love you all so much. Thank you for appreciating our work so much in PS-1. We thank the people here in Tamil Nadu, in our country and the world over, who have given us love and enjoyed the efforts of the team. We have received such enthusiasm for Ponniyin Selvan 2. We too are looking forward to sharing our creative efforts.”

The Mani Ratnam film also stars prominent actors such as Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Karthi and Prakash Raj among others. The film will release in cinemas on April 28.
