Miley Cyrus should stick to singing, and no amount of clothes or non-clothes,kissing and making out, boyfriends and “girlfriends” can change that. This mindless remake of a 2008 French film by the same name just underlines that.

Even Demi Moore, despite her attempts at fighting age, can’t salvage this cliche-ridden story about an angsty teenager discovering love “in the age of Internet”. The last part basically means us reading what Lola,or Lol,in short (Cyrus),and Kyle (Booth) text to and chat with each other — everything from “My mother is angry” to “My father has taken my guitar!” Yes,there is singing involved. But Booth is the singer,Cyrus the “groupie”.

When these American teens go on a school trip to France, they live in houses with no Net,another that serves only snails and “brain meat”,and a third where a girl with Down’s Syndrome is a matter of constant sniggers.

The most heavy-duty psycho-analysis is Lola and her father staring intently at Oreo cookies and debating about liking the cream part or the chocolate. Lola, who this past year has seen grades collapse, done drugs, had sex,and not yet crossed 16,likes the chocolate. Her father — caught cheating by her mother — the cream. It’s supposed to mean something. Make what you will of it.
