Amala Paul, who tied the knot with Jagat Desai in 2023, welcomed a baby boy in 2024. This was a time when Amala was going through a tough phase and didn’t know how to reconnect with herself. However, her unexpected pregnancy helped her find herself.

Speaking to JWF Binge, Amala said, “I got pregnant at a time when I didn’t know what to do with my life. But that experience gave me a sense of direction and made me a better person. Everything became about that little life inside me. I didn’t know where the ‘me’ went– but I liked it.”

Amala Paul said that she and her partner, Jagat Desai, had been together for just a few months when she found out about her pregnancy. “Marriage came later,” she said. Amala also shared that her husband Jagat came as the biggest blessing in her life.

Her struggles began in 2020–21, when she lost her father and faced the emotional toll of the COVID-19 pandemic. During that period, she even experienced symptoms resembling borderline schizophrenia—coinciding with her role in a Hindi series where she portrayed a character with the same condition. “I was forgetting the names of my own family members. The stress was that intense,” she recalled.

Eventually, the actress embarked on a solo journey across Bali, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and London, where she came to a powerful realization—the importance of reconnecting with oneself. “You can’t rely on others to rescue you. You have to find your own way,” she shared.
