A week ahead of its worldwide release, the makers of Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) have unveiled a new video song from the highly anticipated Malayalam movie that is certain to touch the souls of listeners.

Titled “Periyone”, the track is composed by Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman, with lyrics crafted by State Award-winning lyricist Rafeeq Ahamed, while singer Jithin Raj has lent his voice to this serene track.

Produced specifically for promotional purposes, the video features Rahman narrating his experience in creating the tune. The video begins with a captivating top-angle shot of a train traversing a rugged, desolate desert landscape.

“Coming here, I could experience what the main character would have gone through. Seeing those camels, sheep and looking at their faces and (trying to understand) what they are trying to say. Looking at these rocks and sand, you gain so much interaction with nature. I feel that’s very important for music,” he says.

The song’s lyrics vividly portray the struggles of the central character, Najeeb, and his unwavering faith in divine intervention. With a focus on vocals and minimal instrumentals, the song transports listeners into Najeeb’s solitary world.

Accompanying the mesmerising visuals are a few shots from the film, offering glimpses of Najeeb’s (Prithviraj Sukumaran) life in the desert and poignant memories with his wife Sainu (Amala Paul) back home.

Scripted and helmed by Blessy, Aadujeevitham is an adaptation of the bestselling Malayalam novel of the same name, penned by Benyamin and published in 2008.

Prithviraj recently emphasised that despite facing many challenges, the film’s team did not compromise on its quality. “Not a single moment in the film saw any crew member settling for less,” he remarked during a conversation with Film Companion South.

“When we began filming, I wasn’t a director, I was relatively new as an actor, and I wasn’t yet a father or husband. Much has changed in my life during this film’s journey. However, the experience of Aadujeevitham, I believe, will impact me more as a human being than as an actor, director or producer. It will influence my acting style and how I perceive cinema and life moving forward,” he remarked while addressing reporters in Kochi a few days ago.
