Ravi Shankar,Anoushka to perform in Hyderabad

The duo will be seen performing after a long time in India,their last stage act being at Chennai last March.

Sitar legend Ravi Shankar and his daughter Anoushka will perform in Hyderabad on January 11.

The father-daughter duo will be seen performing in India after a long time,their last stage act being at Chennai last March.

They,however,performed together at many global concerts last year including UK Barbican Centre in London (June 4),Paris Salle Pleyel (September 1),Chicago Symphony Center (October 5) and Verizon Hall in Philadelphia (October 19).

The concert at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre is organised by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. This will be the duo’s first act in Hyderabad.

A source close to the maestro said the sitarists will play some new compositions apart from the normal ragas and talas.

Anoushka had in November and December performed in four cities — Kolkata,Delhi,Bangalore and Chennai – with Jethro Tull front man Ian Anderson.
