Actor Divya Dutta has played some powerful roles in her long Bollywood career. The actor made her debut with the 1994-released film Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna. She played the lead role in the 1995 drama Veergati, alongside Salman Khan but Divya is known for her performances in a string of author-backed roles. Be it her role as Shabbo on Veer-Zaara or her roles in the 2008 comedy film Welcome to Sajjanpur and 2009 drama film Delhi-6, Divya Dutta has left her mark many times.

Divya Dutta recently appeared in an interview where she recalled a moment when veteran actor Dharmendra validated her choice of coming into the film industry.

Divya Dutta shared how her mother used to call actor Dharmendra her brother as they both belonged to Sahnewal, a city in Punjab. The actor also shared how as a child she used to often listen that the senior actor used to visit his hometown, his old house but used to leave without letting many people know about it.

Recalling her shooting days from Dharmendra’s film Apne, Divya, in her interview with Unfiltered by Samdish, shared how the veteran actor first used to think if she was ‘ok’ being in the film industry. But he once told Divya, “I would have loved to see you in a role like Guddi.”

Divya also shared that once actor Dharmendra got the Lifetime Achievement Award at an event in Canada and she was on the stage to announce it. After the felicitation, the senior actor took the mic from Divya and said, “I want to say something.”

Dharmendra went on to say, “When Divya joined the film industry, I was not very encouraging, but I am glad she didn’t listen to me.”

Divya went on to share that she was moved by this and felt like an honour. “That was like a validation for me, and also for those who thought should they allow me to do films,” she shared

The actor added, “Those were different times. 25 years back everyone was very protective and fair enough as our industry is not that easy. But I feel nice and validated now.”

Divya Dutta was last seen in Kangana Ranaut’s film Dhaakad but the film failed to make an impact at the box office.
