Seema Sajdeh and Sohail Khan’s divorce confused their son Yohan: ‘Truth can be disturbing, but…’

She added, “Whatever is said to me, I will be honest and I don’t want to be insensitive because at end of the day, my actions have repercussions and have consequences for my children. They are still young. One goes to school, one is at the brink of doing something with his career choices. I never want to be that person who affects them in that way. So, whenever these conversations happen, they are very organic, and real.”

Talking about her first-born, Seema said, “Nirvaan is a lot like me. He also has no filter. Half of the time, I don’t know what he is going to reply to me or in which direction the conversation will go. That (divorce) was the topic of the hour because we were discussing it and I was moving back and why I decided to move. My go-to person is Nirvaan because my younger one is like 10 and half years apart from his brother. And a lot of time, mothers are the punching bag. You can say anything you want to say to mumma. Sometimes to get through to Yohan, Nirvaan steps in his shoes and explains to me his point of view.”

Talking about Yohan, and his confusion around his parents’ relationship status, Seema shared, “He is very young. Of course, we have conversations. But, my relationship and rapport with my children from day one has always been that you can tell mumma anything under the sun and I will not be angry, I will try and understand from your point of view, but you will also have to try and understand mumma. Even though Yohan is young, I don’t lie to him, because I think there is so much information out there, he should never think that my mother lied to me. He needs to know that, good, bad, ugly, mumma will me tell me the truth.”

She explained, “Otherwise, they get confused and they keep trying to think. The truth might be disturbing at first but they will know, ‘My mum didn’t lie to me’. That’s why when anything happens in school or if he hears anything, he has that comfort that he can come home and share it with me and I will explain it to him.”

“You have to keep that line of communication completely open. You have to treat your children like your friends. You can’t bring up children the way I was brought up. We don’t live in that world anymore. We live in a world of so much information that if I don’t give it to him, at a click of a button, he is going to get it”, added Seema.

Seema Sajdeh married Sohail Khan in 1998. In 2022, after 24 years of marriage, they filed for divorce. They have two sons, Nirvaan and Yohan. Currently, Seema is dating Vikram Ahuja, the man whom she was engaged to before marrying Sohail. In the show, she was also seen discussing her new partner with Nirvaan, who said, “I am okay with him. If you are happy, we are happy for you.”
