The clash between Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Prabhas’ Salaar was confirmed four days ago, setting the stage for an epic showdown. Now, another clash between two major releases has emerged, with Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s Merry Christmas going head-to-head with Karan Johar and Sidharth Malhotra’s Yodha.

Originally, Yodha was supposed to release on December 15 but Merry Christmas had later occupied the same slot. An upset Karan Johar had then shared a cryptic note, saying that filmmakers need to inform in advance before booking the same release dates especially when Bollywod is dealing with a tough phase. “Clashing on a date without the courtesy of a phone call is hopefully not the way forward for the studios and producers… If we don’t stand united in these tough and challenging theatrical days then calling us a fraternity is futile,” he had then written.

Today, hours after the Katrina Kaif-starrer booked December 8 as the release date, Karan announced on Instagram that Yodha would release on the same date.

In a previous media interaction, Sriram Raghavan offered insights into his upcoming film, revealing, “It’s not just one film; it’s two films. There’s a Hindi version featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Katrina Kaif, a child actor, and a few other characters. Additionally, there’s a Tamil version with the same cast and a different set of actors. I wanted to create a Tamil film since Vijay is a highly acclaimed actor in the South. Having two versions ensures it doesn’t feel like a mere dubbed film.”

In Yodha, Sidharth Malhotra portrays a soldier who heroically rescues passengers from a hijacked flight. The film is helmed by directors Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha and produced by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions. Alongside Sidharth, the movie features Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna in pivotal roles.
