CISCE Board ICSE 10th & ISC 12th Result 2020 HIGHLIGHTS: The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi declared the results of ICSE class 10, ISC class 12 exams today. A total of 2.06 lakh (2,06,525) candidates became successful in the ICSE and 85,611 in ISC. The number of unsuccessful candidates in ICSE is 1,377, while candidates could not clear the ISC exam.

The recheck option is only available for subjects for which the exams were held. To know this, one will have to understand how the result has been calculated. Since the board could not conduct all its exams, it has resorted to a new marking scheme.

There are several modes by which students, parents, and teachers can check the ISC and ICSE results 2020. They can visit the official website cisce.org or results.cisce.org or log into the career portal.

What are the options suggested before cancelling exams

Firstly, students can take pending examinations in July as per timetable issued. The second option given by the CISCE stated that ‘based on students’ performance in internal assessment or pre-board examinations conducted by their own school or results of board examination papers in subjects already taken, in accordance with such methodology may be prescribed by CISCE.

The Board said, “The paramount interest of CISCE is to protect the safety, well-being and academic endeavours of students sitting for the ICSE and ISC examinations.”

ICSE, ISC exams hearing on Bombay HC: Highlights

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) last month informed the Bombay High Court that it will not force students to appear for remaining examinations for Class 10 and 12 in July, 2020. The Council said that it has decided to offer students two options — either they can appear for pending exams as per the revised schedule or they could opt out of the remaining exams, in which case the final results will be based on performance in internal assessment or pre-board exams

Maharashtra government's stand on conducting pending ICSE, ISC exams

The Maharashtra government, responding to the Court’s query, on June 12 through Advocate General Ashutosh Kumbhakoni had said that the Covid-19 situation in the state is of concern and there it is not feasible to hold pending papers of the ICSE exams in the current situation. As per the Board, here are nearly 226 ICSE schools in Maharashtra having over 23000 students who will appear for the exam.

Compartment exam introduced last year

Compartment exams were introduced last year. This will give chance to candidates to re-appear for the exam again within the same year. Earlier students had to wait for an entire year. Those who failed to clear the exam will get a statement 'eligible for compartmental examination' mentioned in their mark sheet. Those who fail and do not get the statement in mark sheet are failed and not eligible for the compartment and have clearly flunked.

Pass percentage of ISC in 2019

For ISC, the overall pass percentage was 96.52 per cent, the subject-wise lowest pass percentage was observed in mathematics as 84.36 per cent students cleared it and the highest was in biology with 99.65 per cent of students clearing the exam.

In 2019, while the overall pass percentage of ICSE was 98.54 per cent, the highest pass percentage was observed in physical education with 100 per cent of students clearing the exam followed by 99.99 in computer applications, 99.97 in the economic application and 99.82 per cent in commercial applications

The students can also avail the digi locker facility. “The council will make the digitally signed copies of the statement of marks and pass certificate available for the candidates taking the ICSE, ISC examinations through the DigiLocker facility established by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY),” read the official notification.

How much needed to pass ISC

To pass the exam students need to score 33 marks in ICSE exams and have a similar aggregate percentage. To clear the ISC exam, students need to have at least 40 per cent marks in each subject as well as aggregate.

Why the pending exams were cancelled

The pending exams were planned to be conducted in July, but with the board drawing criticism from both students and parents it decided to cancel the exams in the view of the current situation. Several state boards and CBSE too also cancelled the exams due to the same reason.

CISCE ICSE 10th, ISC 12th Result 2020 HIGHLIGHTS: The CISCE had eight papers left for class 12 and six for the class 10 when the government asked all school boards to postponed the exams. The CISCE students will be evaluated on performance in school assessment, and will have the opportunity to appear for the exam at a later date to improve their marks — in this case, students of both classes 10 and 12 will have a shot at improvement.

To pass the exams, students need to get at least 35 per cent marks. The board had recorded 98.54 passing percentage in ICSE last year, while it was 96.52 per cent in the ISC exams.
