Goa hotel blaze: Luthra brothers deported from Thailand, being taken to Goa

The brothers were detained from a hotel in Thailand’s Patong last week. (File Photo) Nine days after they fled to Thailand within hours of the blaze at their Goa nightclub where 25 people died, Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra were deported to India Tuesday.
The Goa Police took them into custody shortly after the Luthra brothers landed at the Delhi airport in the afternoon. Police obtained a transit remand for their transfer to Goa. They are to be flown to Goa Wednesday morning.
The Luthras, who ran the nightclub Birch by Romeo Lane in Arpora in North Goa, fled to Thailand within hours of the blaze on the night of December 6.
The brothers were detained from a hotel in Thailand’s Patong last week, based on a request from Indian law enforcement agencies, following which the process to deport them was expedited. They were shifted to an immigration facility in Bangkok before being deported to India.
