Pune: ‘Missing’ NDA cadet returns

A 19-YEAR-old cadet from the National Defence Academy, who had gone missing on October 5, returned on Sunday morning, academy authorities said. According to the Uttam Nagar police, the cadet from the E Squadron of the tri-services academy was in the fifth term of his course.

Sub-Inspector KB Jadhav of Uttam Nagar police station said, “As per the missing complaint registered by his mother, who is based in Pune, the cadet was receiving treatment at the Command Hospital till October 5 and was supposed to go home or return to the academy but he did not. His mother filed a missing complaint with us.”

PSI Jadhav added, “We immediately launched search for him and tried to trace him based on cell phone location. On Sunday morning, I received a call from an NDA officer that he has returned to the academy. We are yet to record his statement to find out where he was.” Sources said an internal inquiry will conducted into his disappearance.
