Four months have passed since the German bakery blast ripped through the collective conscience of Pune. As news keeps mushrooming everyday of knee-jerk bureaucratic responses and turgid judicial procedures,Pune is slowly regaining its groove. Commemorating the spirit of the city,newpunemodels.com has organised a fashion show dedicated to the victims of the blast on June 27,at the Radission Hotel. The aim of this- Peace Walk is to re-ignite the message of peace and say no to terrorism. An effort has been made to bring the city’s fashion fraternity together to counter government apathy towards the victims of the blast.

The show will be choreographed in three sections, where the clothes on display will reflect the past, present and future of the city in context of the blast. First will be called Colours of Life, portraying bright, colourful drapes as symbolic of a vibrant,peace-loving Pune. The second section will be The Dark Nite, signifying the dark shadow of terrorism that engulfed the city when the blast happened. The final segment will feature all the models wearing white,to re-iterate the message of peace and the willingness of Puneites to fight terror together.

Arzoo Lokhandwala,a model who will be a part of the event, says,“I had a lucky escape on the day of the blast as I was in the close vicinity of the bakery. I feel an emotional connect to this cause as a result. Efforts such as this are important to bring to the fore, the inactivity of the government in addressing the woes of the victims.” Fashion designer Roopa Chowdhary says,“I was keen to participate in the event as it is for a good cause. I will be designing for- The Dark Nite section and it is going to be very different form my usual work.”

Some waiters of the bakery who were injured in the blast have been invited to the event and will be given cheques by the donors. Lovely Singh,a model and choreographer for the event says,“I admire the spirit of this city. In spite of the terrible tragedy of the blast,we were quickly back on our feet. I am working on the- Peace segment of the show, where white takes over and obliterates black. It represents the superiority of peace over violence.”
