Panel to probe incident:Chavan

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan,who visited the injured and kin of the deceased at the Sassoon Hospital on Wednesday,said that a inquiry committee would be formed under Divisional Commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh to investigate the incident that left 8 killed and 24 injured.

“Primary health report shows that the driver wasn’t mentally unstable. The action by the driver (Santosh Mane) is very serious and can’t be condoned even if he was mentally unwell. A probe committee under Deshmukh would be formed to inquire the tragedy,” said Chavan.

He also said MSRTC would also constitute a committee to see if there were any systemic shortcomings that led to the incidence like loopholes in recruitment procedure and timely check-up for mental and physical fitness for the job.
