Orientation at SCIT
Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology (SCIT) had organised a day-long orientation programme on June 3 at the SCIT Campus,Hinjewadi. The programme was organised to familiarise the fresh batch of students in the institution with the learning processes followed at SCIT. The event was attended by Vibhuti Kumar Dubey,AVP,Infosys along with S B Mujumdar,founder,Symbiosis International University,Manjiri Rai and Mohsin Khan,alumni. Addressing the gathering,Mujumdar spoke about the importance of innovation,compassion and passion in education. Manjiri Rai and Mohsin Khan also shared fond memories of their alma mater. “The orientation programme gives the students an effective insight into the fields they have decided to make their careers in,” said Shaila Kagal,director,SCIT.

Project management course
Amplify Mindware DITM of the Bharati Vidyapeeth University,recently launched a two- year post graduate management programme in Project Management. The course is designed for professionals with work experience aspiring to be project managers,especially in project-oriented industries like software,construction and engineering. The programme aims to create managers who are ready with the body of knowledge to engineer a project to desired results. This programme was formally launched by Raj Kalady,managing director,PMI India in presence of other senior project management professionals including Nikunj Vyas,senior vice president,Reliance Communications,Ketan Gokhale,ex-MD Konkan Railways,Shirke,ex- director general,WALMI,Deepak Venkatesan of PMI and Girish Kelkar,president,PMI,Pune Deccan India Chapter.

EYF environment day
The members of Express Youth Forum (EYF) along with orphanage centre Preet Mandir,Kalyani Nagar observed Environment Day by distributing 100 paper bags outside SGS mall,Inox and E-square. It was an anti-plastic campaign volunteered by 15 members of EYF and 80 children of the orphanage. Geeta,caretaker,Preet Mandir said it was a fun event,and was happy to see children actively taking part and that she would further help children continue to take part in environment friendly activities. “Each one of us needs to make a small contribution and we can hence make it big together,” said Sandeep Vernekar,director EYF. On the occasion,the members of EYF appealed to all to get together and change the state of the planet for a greener tomorrow.

Andar is MES secretary
Mahesh M Andar,vice principal,Nowrosjee Wadia College,Pune has taken over as secretary,Modern Education Society subsequent to the retirement of P M Sule. A past student of Nowrosjee Wadia College,Andar is the head of Mathematics Department and is a member of the Board of Studies in Mathematics,University of Pune. He has also worked as assistant secretary of Modern Education Society for the last three years and has been the vice principal of Nowrosjee Wadia College since 1995. P P Kulkarni,principal,D G Ruparel College,Mumbai took over as assistant secretary.

For a greener tomorrow
Crossbow club and Blue Cross Society,Pune with 60 of its members celebrated Environment Day planting 45 saplings,in the Blue Cross Society Hospital Shelter premises. The event was organised to make the premises greener and also to prop up a natural habitat in order to attract more species of birds and insects. More than 40 members and other staff members who came from different institutions,organisations like Family Circle,Good Shephard Homes and others volunteered the event.
