Builder arrested for threatening actor Sadhana

Sadhana — known for her roles in movies like Mera Saya and Woh Kaun Thi — had,in her complaint on August 12,accused Lakdawala of issuing death threats to her and forcing her to vacate her 3,000-sq ft suburban Santacruz residence. The 68-year-old actor stays on the ground floor of two-storeyed bungalow — Sangeeta — on Ram Krishna Mission Road with her niece and servants. Actress Baby Naaz’s family lives on the first floor while the second floor is occupied by Lakdawala’s mother-in-law and relatives. All the three families are tenants,with the property being owned by singer Asha Bhosle.

Sadhana said in her complaint that she had sent her secretary to check the water tank on the building terrace after irregular water supply to her house when Lakdawala’s family allegedly misbehaved with the secretary and did not allow her access to the terrace. She claimed that Lakdawala argued with her when she called him up and gave her death threats besides asking her to leave the apartment. She told the police that Lakdawala wanted to redevelop the property,for which he had allegedly been terrorising her for some time.

The actor had,on September 4,visited Mumbai police commissioner Sanjeev Dayal along with BJP leader Shaina NC and asked him to take stern action against Lakdawala. “We have been agitating for her (Sadhana’s) case for some time now. Initially,the police did not take cognisance of the complaint. However,after we met the police commissioner,they became pro-active. Lakdawala was arrested and released on bail. However,we will fight it out in the court next week,” Shaina said.
