Arvind Ray set to be next Delhi Home Secretary
New Delhi: Arvind Ray,Secretary and Commissioner in the General Administration department of the Delhi government,is all set to become the next Home Secretary of Delhi. Ray,an 1984-batch IAS officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre,will succeed G S Patnaik. The post of the Home Secretary in the Delhi government was lying vacant since Patnaik joined the Delhi Development Authority as vice-chairman in January. The Delhi government and the Lieutenant-Governor’s office have cleared the file for Ray’s appointment,official sources said on Friday night. A formal approval from the Union Home Ministry is awaited.

DU student shot by unidentified men
NEW DELHI: Vikas Kumar Tyagi (19),a first-year B Com student of Delhi University,was shot by two unidentified persons on Friday. The incident occurred near Khaitan Public School around 8.15 pm. Police said Tyagi was going to the market on his bike when two people on another bike shot him. He was rushed to Max hospital in Delhi. Police,who suspect that Tyagi’s relationship with a girl is the reason behind the attack,are hunting for the suspects.

Police arrest gangster at Mangolpuri
NEW DELHI: Crime Branch personnel have arrested a member of the Karnail-Jarnail gang at Mangolpuri,police said on Friday. “With his arrest,two cases of robbery and 11 cases of snatching have been solved,” said DCP (Crime) Ashok Chand. The accused,Sunil Kumar (37),was arrested on March 2 at Y-block,Mangolpuri. Police found that the gang had 25-30 members,besides informers in Chandni Chowk,Karol Bagh and Sadar Bazaar areas.

Cases filed during CWG unsolved: Cops
NEW DELHI: Five months on,the Delhi Police has failed to solve any of the seven cases filed by athletes during the Commonwealth Games last year,which ranged from molestation to theft,an RTI reply has stated. The cases include the alleged molestation of an athlete in the Games Village by unknown persons,the reply added. The police also failed to recover money lost by or allegedly stolen from athletes during their stay at the Village last year.
