CISF men open fire at 2 outside IGI

In a midnight drama near the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the early hours of Saturday,the CISF personnel fired three rounds at two men who tried to flee when they called out to them around 1.10 am.

A CISF cop,who was on routine night duty near Gate no. 14 on the Dwarka side of the airport,spotted a Skoda car in a secluded place,sources said. Two men were found drinking near the railway crossing,sources said.

“The CISF personnel found the behaviour of the two men suspicious and called out them asking them to surrender. However,the duo started running,prompting the personnel to fire one round in the air,” a senior CISF official said.

This did not stop the men,who then tried to get into their car and flee. “The personnel then fired two more rounds at the tyres of the car,bringing it to a halt. They recovered a bottle of liquor,” said the official.

The CISF then handed over the men,Hemant (a resident of village Satkalawati near Dwarka) and Sachin Malik (a resident of Najafgarh),both in their mid-20s,to Delhi Police.

The duo was then taken in for interrogation by a team of Delhi Police and intelligence officials to verify their antecedents. “They were released later in the day around 4 pm,” a senior police official said.
