PU prof gets excellence award

Professor S K Gupta,Department of Sociology in Panjab University was conferred the Bharat Jyoti Award for Excellence at a function in New Delhi on Friday. The award was given for his meritorious services,outstanding performance and remarkable role in society,particularly with reference to social activism.

DSP fined for not following RTI time limit

Chandigarh: Central Information Commissioner Deepak Sandhu imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 on Deputy Superintendent of Police (EOW) B S Chadha for not complying with the provision of the RTI Act 2005,on a complaint made by Brig. D S Grewal. In an order dated August 7,it was directed that the amount would be recovered from Chadha’s salary by deducting Rs 5,000 every month.
