Hosts NPS-18 cagers enter final

Riding high on good performances by their forwards,hosts New Public School,Sector 18, secured an emphatic 37-28 win over Gurukul Global School.

Riding high on good performances by their forwards,hosts New Public School,Sector 18, secured an emphatic 37-28 win over Gurukul Global School to enter the final of the Lt. Col. Balraj Singh Memorial Basketball Tournament (Boys) being played at New Public School,Sector 18,on Friday.

In the semi-final encounter played on Friday,New Public School were ahead by 15-0 after the end of the first quarter. They scored 11 more points in the second quarter,nine points in the third and four points in the last quarter. Yuvraj was brilliant and scored 16 points for the winning team.

In the other semi-final encounter,St Xavier’s School scored a 15-7 win over St Kabir Public School. The winning team was leading by 6-4 at the end of the first quarter. They led by 7-5 at the end of second quarter and scored six and two points in the third and fourth quarters,respectively,to bag a berth in the final.

In the girls’ category,Saupin’s School marched into the final with a narrow 14-12 win over St Kabir Public School. In the other semi-final encounter,Guru Nanak Public School,Sector 36,scored an easy 26-9 win over New Public School,Sector 18. GNPS were leading by 12-2 at the end of first quarter securing a morale-boosting 20-6 lead at the end of second quarter.
