Giridih, Jharkhand, Mar 01 (ANI): Police arrested a Maoist woman commander in Jharkhand giving a major blow to the extremist group in the region. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Chandamuni Hansda from a bus station in Giridih district, who is wanted in murder of a senior police officer and other heinous crimes. The woman is believed to be member of core team of Maoist leader Hitesh in the Santhal-Pargana zone, which consists of six districts. Superintendent of Police, Akhilesh B Verier, called it was a big achievement for the police. Police said she was the founding member of the Maoist women’s wing in Santhal-Pargana.

Bengaluru, Feb 26 (ANI): A student of Bengaluru’s design school spent harrowing 45 minutes in a BMTC bus after a crew member, along with a few policemen and a mob, allegedly locked her inside the bus near Yelahanka police station. The crew, encouraged by the policemen and mob, allegedly told the woman they would release her only if her friend, who had fled after a clash with the conductor, returns. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) PS Harsha on Friday said they have arrested the conductor on the basis of FIR filed by the girl. He further said the conductor has also lodged a complaint against the girl and investigation is going on.

Pakistan arrests 88 Indian fishermen for territorial violation

Karachi, Feb 21 (ANI): Pakistan's marine forces have arrested 88 Indian fishermen and took sixteen boats into custody for allegedly violating the country's territorial waters in the Arabian Sea. A police official said the fishermen, who were arrested on Friday night, have been handed over to Docks Police Station in Karachi for necessary legal action. The arrested fishermen were charged under the Foreign Act and Fisheries Act. The fishermen, who belong to Gujarat, will be produced them before a magistrate on Sunday. India and Pakistan share an extensive oceanic border with each other which is poorly defined, resulting in fishermen on both sides inadvertently crossing over to the other side while netting their catch.

The 24-year-old woman had gone to a pub inside the mall to collect her mobile phone, which she had forgotten there. Taking advantage of the situation, two employees of the mall harassed the woman. The police started investigation and made the arrest after victim's friend filed a complaint. The Dutch woman was in Indore to attend a wedding.

Laul, who is writing a book on the convicts in the 2002 Naroda Patiya massacre case, said she was attacked by Chhara when she went to house in Naroda area of Ahmedabad late on Wednesday evening for interviewing him. Chhara has been convicted to 31 years in prison for his involvement in the Naroda Patiya massacre, in which 97 people were killed during the 2002 communal riots. He was out on parole.
