Bollywood's Barbie doll Katrina Kaif celebrates her 30th birthday today. Known as one of the most sought after actresses in the tinsel town, Katrina Kaif had a bumpy start in Bollywood. Here's a look at her top moment in Bollywood after almost a decade.
Katrina Kaif's first big moment in Bollywood came four years after her debut debacle 'Boom' and it was with Akshay Kumar in 'Namaste London' (2007) and this is how we got the next hit jodi in Bollywood. Post her 'Boom' disaster, the actress took a tour down south, but that too went without anything great and our pretty lady was back in Bollywood. She was next seen in Ram Gopal Varma's hit film 'Sarkar' as Abhishek Bachchan's girlfriend. It was only after she came under the wing of Bollywood's 'bhai' Salman Khan, did Katrina finally came into the limelight.
After 'Namaste London', Katrina Kaif went on to give hits like 'Welcome' and 'Singh is Kingg' with Akshay Kumar. From 2007-2009 Katrina gave smashing hits like 'Race' and 'New York'.
Katrina then surprised everyone by signing Prakash Jha's 'Rajneeti' (2010) with her rumoured beau Ranbir Kapoor, where she played a politician. The promotions of the film were heavily around Katrina's 10 minutes of role in which she looked much like Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi. The film was a success but Ranbir Kapoor walked away with most of the compliments!
Katrina's next big moment came with her ex-beau Salman Khan starrer 'Ek Tha Tiger' where she played the role of a Pakistani secret agent. The film was a blockbuster and is counted among Katrina's biggest Box Office hits.
Before 'Ek Tha Tiger', Katrina also made headline for her uber sexy avatars in two top items songs of all time – 'Sheila Ki Jawaani' (Tees Mar Khan) and 'Chikni Chameli' (Agneepath).
Katrina also enjoyed the limelight for being one of the last actresses to enter Yash Chopra's favourites with 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'. The maverick filmmaker, who died shortly after helming the film, gave Katrina Kaif a huge 'award' in the name of the movie, which is also counted as one of her top films.
Katrina's next big Bollywood moment came with 'Dhoom 3'. The third film in the series definitely projected Katrina as the sexy acrobatic diva, but her role was too small as compared to the hype made around her character for the promotions. People thought it was an out and out Aamir Khan movie and Katrina was only there for the three songs.
While Katrina has enjoyed only a few 'headline making' moments professionally, her personal life has been under scanner for a long time. The actress has been linked with three of her co-stars in a career spanning almost a decade – Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor.
The actress was first linked with Akshay Kumar, with whom Katrina has given maximum hits of her career. The two were reportedly getting too close, when Akshay's wife Twinkle Khanna put her foot down forbidding the actor to work with Katrina.
While the 'ban' worked for sometime, but they were again paired in 'Tees Mar Khan'. However, by this time Katrina Kaif was involved with her 'guiding' star Salman Khan.
Katrina's affair with Salman Khan was also one of the most talked about trivia in and outside B-town. Salman Khan was openly very supportive of the actress and Katrina too was an important part of his life (personally). Katrina till date is seen at the Khan household for important occasions such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, etc.
It is however Katrina's on-and-off relation with her 'Rajneeti' co-star Ranbir Kapoor which has kept her in limelight for almost two years. Their first big moment came, when Katrina's Ibiza holiday pictures with Ranbir Kapoor went viral on social media platforms. The actress was spotted in a bikini having some fun time with the actor on the beach. Though the two haven't confirmed being in a relationship but neither have they denied these reports and continue to be spotted at various parties.
Post that Katrina and Ranbir were spotted on an off arriving for parties together or were often spotted at movie screening together.
Their relationship hit a roadblock when there were reports of an apparent break-up following a fight over the exes – Deepika Padukone and Salman Khan.
But the actors called it a truce and were next reported to soon move in together. However Ranbir Kapoor had clarified that the move was only temporary as his current residence is to undergo a renovation process.
