Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Saturday posted a photo on Twitter with slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani’s father Muzaffar Wani at his ashram in Bengaluru. The photo was posted from his official handle @SriSri. The caption of the photo read: “Muzaffar Wani, the father of Burhan Wani was in the ashram for the last 2 days. We discussed several issues”.

The tweet was retweeted by Art of Living’s official Twitter handle too. The background behind the meeting is not clear yet.

Burhan Wani was gunned down by security forces along with two other militants in an encounter on July 8 in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag resulting in widespread protests in the Valley leading to around 68 deaths since then. Wani was famous among the youth in Kashmir for posting pro-freedom videos on Kashmir on social media. Burhan joined the Hizbul Mujahideen in 2010, when he was just 15 years of age. He was considered as the ‘poster boy’ of the Hizbul Mujahideen.

Burhan was among the new wave of tech-savy militants who used to leverage social media to recruit and influence Kashmiri youth. His family currently lives in Tral. Burhan’s elder brother Khalid was also shot dead by the Army last year.
