Rohtak Election Results 2024: Congress’s Deepender Singh Hooda secured a decisive victory in the Rohtak constituency, as he received 7,83,578 votes, while his BJP opponent, Dr Arvind Kumar Sharma, garnered 4,38,280 votes.
This win marks a significant turnaround for Hooda, who had lost to Sharma in the previous 2019 Lok Sabha elections. However, in the 2024 elections, Hooda turned the tables in his favour, winning with a margin of 3,45,298 votes.
Rohtak is a significant Lok Sabha constituency in Haryana, encompassing nine legislative assembly segments. The 2024 Rohtak Lok Sabha elections took place in Phase 6 on May 25, with familiar contenders from the previous election: Dr Arvind Kumar Sharma representing the BJP and Deepender Singh Hooda from the Congress.
Dr Arvind Kumar Sharma, the current MP for Rohtak, transitioned to represent this constituency after serving as the Member of Parliament for Karnal during the 15th Lok Sabha. In a notable political move in 2019, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contested from Rohtak, triumphing over Deepender Singh Hooda of the Indian National Congress. Sharma secured victory for the BJP with 573,845 votes, narrowly defeating Deepender Singh Hooda of the INC by a margin of 7,503 votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
As the elections concluded—the final and seventh phases of Lok Sabha elections—the exit polls conducted by India Today-Axis My India suggest that the BJP is poised to retain the Rohtak seat, with Dr Arvind Kumar Sharma expected to emerge victorious once again in the upcoming elections.
