French journalist Nicolas Henin, who was held hostage by the Islamic State in Syria for 10 months, talks about how the anti-IS coalition airstrikes in Syria are only helping the terrorist group’s propaganda.

In the video interview, Henin says that the airstrikes are promoting the ISIS propaganda because this allows the terrorists to tell the Syrian population that they are a stronger body to protect the civilians. ISIS by striking French soil wanted nothing, but provoke an escalation, says Henin. “It’s obvious that it was not looking at France to withdraw from anti-IS coalition in Syria, but it wanted to cause further escalation of France’ military involvement in Syria,” adds Henin.

According to him, France was targeted because it came across as a vulnerable country to its attackers.
