‘Fifth time in a row’: Vir Das posts over IndiGo flight delay, airline apologises

IndiGo said the delay was due to air traffic congestion at the Mumbai airport.

IndiGoMany users shared similar experiences as well.

Comedian Vir Das recently shared his experience of flying on IndiGo flights, highlighting delays.

“When did indigo turn into the ‘board you on time, but keep you on the flight and depart when you’re supposed to land’ airline? Like fifth time in a row this happened. @IndiGo6E,” Das wrote.

Acknowledging the inconvenience, IndiGo representatives reached out to Das on X and offered clarification. “Mr Das, we truly appreciate you meeting with our team at the airport. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused by the delay. It’s important to note that the delay was attributed to air traffic congestion at Mumbai airport, which is beyond our control,” the IndiGo representative said.

The details of Das’s concerns remain undisclosed.

“Our in-flight team also made the announcement onboard about the delay. Rest assured, we are fully committed to enhancing our services. Thank you for your understanding and patience,” it added.

One user wrote, “They are the new ‘Hotel California’. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.” Another said, “It’s been that way for a long time. Only now the pattern is forming in people’s minds because important sectors are experiencing these delays routinely.”

A third user expressed, “They are the worst airlines. Couple of days ago, the Mumbai goa flight was delayed by an hour. Last month, the flight took off leaving my mother stranded even though she checked in and was waiting in front of the designated gate. They changed the gate and made no announcement.”

Another incident that gained traction on social media involved actor-comedian Kapil Sharma criticising IndiGo on X for keeping passengers waiting in a bus at Chennai airport without providing any explanation for the delay. He alleged the passengers were left waiting in the bus for 50 minutes, even though the flight was scheduled to depart at 8 pm. Sharma had said the pilot had not arrived as he was stuck in traffic.
