A video of the newly-inaugurated Ayodhya Dham railway station in poor upkeep has sparked debate online. The railway station was built last year with a three-storey building and new amenities, and is situated at walking distance from the Ram Temple. However, the now-viral video shows a contradictory side of the railway station.
An X user shared the video that shows the badly littered railway station – from paan stains to food packets to travellers using the fencing to dry their clothes. The railway station’s deplorable state has had internet users questioning the civic sense of the public.
Sharing the video, the user wrote, “Give the World Class Facilities and Infrastructure to People and They Will Ruin It. This is Newly Opened Ayodhya Dham Railway Station, Feels So Terrible To See This. Hope People Learn Basic Civic Sense.”

The video of the cleaning drive shared by the Northern Railway Lucknow Division amassed several reactions from social media users who slammed the travellers and also applauded the Indian Railway for taking immediate action.
A user commented, “People are drying clothes on railings. People are spitting pan gutkha. Put penalty on travellers too.” Another user wrote, “Good job guys. But this should not be a one-time thing. The cleanliness should be natural and perpetual.”
“I don’t see dustbins anywhere? Keep separate wet and dry dustbins and increase awareness among the masses. Authorities are as much responsible as the contractor, you can’t shift the blame. Public also need to learn civic sense of ownership and keep things clean,” the third user reacted.
