Every now and then, a dance video on the Internet captures hearts, standing out from the usual posts. Recently, such a video surfaced from Karnataka, leaving social media users awestruck. Students from NMAM Institute of Technology were seen performing Bharatnatyam to the tunes of the Hanuman Chalisa, all while rain poured down around them.
The video, shared by Prarthana Rao on Instagram, was posted with the caption, “When Indradev has plans, but you don’t stop dancing” (“Indradev” refers to the god of rain in Hindu mythology).
Despite the heavy downpour outside, the students danced gracefully in a corridor, their movements perfectly synchronised with the traditional rhythm of the Hanuman Chalisa. The clip, recorded by an onlooker, showcases the performers’ focus, energy, and skill.
Onlookers gathered to watch the performance, some standing under umbrellas right in front of the dancers, while others observed from the college building. The audience clapped and cheered enthusiastically, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.

Instagram users were quick to applaud the students’ dedication. Many described the performance as inspiring, heartwarming, and a beautiful example of teamwork. One user wrote, “Rain is not here to stop…… But to participate.” Another commented, “God can’t throw flowers from above so he blessed and cheered you guys with rain.”
Several viewers also noted the extra challenge of dancing in the rain. As one user pointed out, “Rain may have added grace to the performance, but dancing in it is never easy, especially with classical forms where every grounded step demands balance on a slippery stage. Well done guys.”
The presence of a lone male dancer in the group also caught attention. “No offense but when I saw girls dancing I was okay, but just when I spotted guy dancing amidst them I was amazed,” shared one impressed viewer.
