The use of ChatGPT has made many tasks easier such as preparing a diet chart or even writing emails. However, many professors and school teachers also wondered if the students would use the Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool to write essays simply by giving the chatbot software a few prompts.
However, even for cheating one needs to apply some thought because a teacher can easily spot a lazy copy-paste hack. On Tuesday, a Twitter user named Justine Moore (@venturetwins) shared a picture of an essay submission on Twelfth Night, a play by William Shakespeare. The very first line of the essay revealed that the essay was written by an “AI language model”.
It appears that the student forgot to edit out this part and this small mistake eventually gave away that the piece was copied. The teacher highlights this part and then remarks that the student needs to redo the assignment in own words. This tweet got over 13,000 likes since it was posted.
Teachers: “AI is a disaster, how am I going to know who is cheating?!”

In the comments, many people recalled similar cheating hacks that they use to do or saw others do. A Twitter user recalled, “Truth. I once had a student submit a copy + pasted section of a paper that was ripped from somebody’s forum post on a topic….complete with a page ad in the middle of it”.
Another person wrote, “I once had a student try to pass off a Pablo Neruda poem as his own. If the style and skill of Neruda wasn’t enough to tip me off, the web address of the site was at the bottom of the page when he printed it off before handing it in”.
