A Pakistani TV reporter has unexpectedly become the internet’s latest viral star after her flood coverage struck a chord with viewers, many likening it to the legendary Chand Nawab clip from Karachi.
The journalist, identified as Mehrunnisa, was filing her report while sitting in a boat surrounded by swelling floodwaters. Visibly nervous, she didn’t hold back her emotions on camera. At one point, she admitted: “Mujhe bahut dar lag raha hai. Guys, please pray for us. I am very scared. Balance nahi ho raha hai.” (I am very scared. Please pray for us. I can’t keep my balance.)
The footage, first shared by her channel on YouTube, quickly spilled over onto social media platforms, where it spread like wildfire.

Viewers couldn’t resist drawing parallels to Chand Nawab’s famously raw style of reporting, which went viral years ago. While some laughed at her candid fear, others praised her honesty and determination. “She is brave and courageous,” one comment read. Another joked, “Ye to vlogging hai guys” (This feels like vlogging, guys). A third summed it up with: “Another Chand Nawab moment.”
This isn’t the first time Pakistani reporters have gone viral during extreme weather coverage. Just last month, a shocking clip showed journalist Ali Musa Raza being swept away during a live broadcast near Chahan Dam in Rawalpindi. The dramatic footage captured him standing neck-deep in the raging water, microphone still in hand, before the current dragged him under, only his arm briefly visible before he disappeared.
