When people get fired or laid off from a job, they don’t expect their former bosses to contact them any longer with something related to work. However, this is what happened with a man, and he has shared a screenshot on Reddit of a conversation he had with his former boss.

The man, with the username @ScooterBobb, wrote that he replied to his former boss, “I’m confused. Was my position eliminated or not?”

His former boss confirmed that the man had indeed been fired, but still he wanted to know whether he had prepared an order on Sunday. The former employee then gave him a stern reply that you don’t fire someone and contact them with questions about the job.

The former boss, however, said he had expected him to be professional after “25 years in the kitchen”. “In 25 years I’ve never had anyone fire me then expect me to still work,” he wrote to his boss.

“You’re fired! now get back to work!” commented a Reddit user. “OP must surely be from the American South. “Bless your heart” is one of our most cherished insults. Though it’s not always meant as an insult, this is a prime example of it being used as such,” wrote another. “I’ve worked a dozen jobs across all industries and you’d probably be horrified to learn how many people like this are in management roles,” another person wrote.
