Chai or tea is much more than just a beverage in India. It’s an integral part of daily life, and social gatherings, and goes far beyond the simple act of sipping tea. But how much can an Indian spend on a warm cup of chai? While one cup of tea at Mumbai’s Taj Palace Hotel costs around Rs 650-750, a Dubai cafe sells gold tea worth Rs 1 lakh.

Owned by an Indian-origin restauranter Sucheta Sharma, Boho Cafe at the DIFC’s Emirates Financial Towers is stirring up attention on social media with its ‘Gold karak’ tea, which is served with 24-carat gold leaf.

In a viral video, a food vlogger gives a tour of the cafe-restaurant and its most-talked-about beverage. The vlogger shares that the tea is served in pure silver cutlery and is topped with gold dust and a gold leaf with a gold-dusted croissant on the side.
