Delhi woke up to yet another day of unhealthy air quality with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 329 this morning at 7 am, according to data sourced from the Air Quality Early Warning System (EWS) of the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology. At this level, the city’s air quality falls firmly within the ‘Very Poor’ category.

Across the national capital, dense smog and lingering particulate matter reduced visibility in several areas. Meteorological conditions, including low wind speeds and calm atmospheric mixing, continued to trap pollutants close to the surface, preventing their dispersion.

Authorities have flagged that many parts of the city recorded AQI values well above safe limits, with PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations remaining high.

Health experts warn that prolonged exposure to these pollutants can exacerbate respiratory and cardiovascular problems, particularly in vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions.

Delhiites should limit outdoor activities, wear protective masks when stepping outside, and consider using air purifiers indoors to reduce exposure. Schools and eldercare facilities are also being urged to take precautions, especially during early mornings and late evenings when pollution peaks.

Delhi weather forecast today

On the weather front, dense fog is expected to persist through the day, further complicating conditions for commuters and contributing to continued pollution build-up.
