Google Password Manager, the free-to-use password manager service is getting a new update that will make it possible for users to share passwords with members in their family group.
The tech giant had announced earlier this year in February and said that the functionality is being rolled out as part of the May 2024 Google Play services v24.20 update.
To use the feature, users will need to create a family group if they dont have one and add members they want to share passwords with. One thing to note here is that you will be only able to share passwords with people who are in your family group and not with everyone who has a Google account.
As you can see in the image above, there is a new share button that appears when viewing login info in Google Password Manager. While the functionality is currently available on the mobile version of Chrome, it looks like the desktop version of Chrome is yet to get the update.
According to Google, when you share a password with a family member in Google Password Manager, they will get a copy of it in their Google Password Manager, which can then be used to log in to the service or website.
The newest Play Services update also introduced a bunch of new features like allowing parents to monitor children’s app usage across different time limit settings, switch between two devices on video calls in apps like Google Meet and see your card name in the payment card suggestions field.
