Canva's new Connect API is now available to everyone. (Image Source: Camva)Canva, the free-to-use online graphic design and collaboration tool has launched Connect APIs which allow developers to integrate the service with third-party platforms and data sources like Slack or Salesforce.
By integrating Canva with other platforms, developers can further simplify the user workflow, cut down on context switching and make peer collaboration easier. Using the new Design API, Export API, Asset API and Folder API, developers can help users manage, access and edit their assets integrating it with marketing automation software, digital asset management and file management platforms.
If an organisation is into automating processes and generating customer-facing assets, Canva’s Autofill and Brand Templates API can help generate “bespoke and on-brand designs.” To make collaboration more seamless, the new Comment API and Notification webhook events can help users receive design feedback and reduce the need to switch between different platforms.
The company also unveiled new “Apps SDK” capabilities like APIs for image, video and text editing, using which one can develop photo editing and video apps in Canva which can come in handy to do things like reading and replacing the content of a selected video or add, read or replace text with Fonts and Rich Text APIs.
For developers, Canva is offering new resources, an AI app starter kit and a new Partner Program that lets them design, discover and monetise apps. The company recently announced a partnership with Amazon Ads, Meta and Google with the primary aim of making it easy to design and publish ad content directly from Canva. The Canva developer program and the Canva Apps SDK are now available to all developers.
