Facebook’s new ‘Friends’ tab lets you see all friend posts in one place

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says the move is part of Facebook's initiative to bring back "OG" experiences.

Meta’s first ever social media network – Facebook, is getting a new Friends tab which the company says will be the go to place for checking out your friends’ stories, reels, posts, birthdays and other things.

Unlike Facebook’s main feed, which comprises posts from pages you follow and other algorithmic content, the newly introduced ‘Friends’ tab will only contain posts from people in your friends list and filter out recommended content. This is similar to Instagram’s ‘Following’ and ‘Close Friends’ feed, which only shows posts, reels and stories from pages you are following or friends you have added to the Close Friends list.

It is located in the navigation bar on your home Feed with Meta saying it can always be accessed in the Bookmarks section of the app. To pin the Friends tab, click on your profile picture from the Home feed, and head over to Settings & Privacy> Settings> Tab bar. Now, choose to customise the tab bar and click on ‘Friends’ to pin the tab.

Formerly, the Friends tab acted as a place to view friend requests and ‘People you may know’. Meta says the change is part of Facebook’s new campaign, which aims to bring back several of the “OG” experiences throughout the year. Initially available in Canada and the US, the revamped Friends tab will be available in other regions sometime later, but Meta hasn’t shared any timeline on when that will happen.
