India’s star wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant became the most expensive IPL signing of all-time as Lucknow Super Giants pipped Delhi Capitals with a Rs 27 crore bid. Punjab Kings
Price – Rs 26.75 crore
After leading Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to their third Indian Premier League title, Iyer was roped in for an eye-popping Rs 26.75 crore by Punjab Kings. Iyer was in the midst of a three-way bidding process between KKR, his former Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings during the historic bidding process. After missing the entirety of IPL 2023 due to injury concerns, Iyer returned with 351 runs in 14 matches during KKR’s waltz to the title.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Price – Rs 23.75 crore
Venkatesh Iyer hit a major jackpot as he returned to the Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 23.75 crore. In 2023, Iyer became only the second KKR batter in 15 years after Brendon McCullum to crack an IPL hundred. Iyer shone in KKR’s IPL 2024 final win over SunRisers Hyderabad in Chennai, scoring an unbeaten 52 in a comfortable 114-run chase. Iyer’s tryst with the Indian T20I side was brief in the 2021 and 2022 seasons as the national side scrambled for back-ups in Hardik Pandya’s absence.
Punjab Kings
Price – Rs 18 crore
Following a fierce bidding battle between 6 teams, India pacer Arshdeep Singh was roped back by the Punjab Kings for Rs 18 crore through the execution of the Right-to-Match card process. Arshdeep had a strong season in the 2024 Indian Premier League, taking 19 wickets in 14 innings at an economy rate of 10.02.
Punjab Kings
Price – Rs 18 crore
Not part of India’s white-ball set-up, Chahal has been one of the most successful bowlers in the IPL. A slightly unorthodox leggie – in terms of the line he operates – the 34-year-old would definitely garner interest. Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans, who play on venues with big outfields, would suit Chahal and if Royal Challengers Bengaluru believe his experience of bowling at M Chinnaswamy is key, then his bid could end up in double digits.
