The International Quizzing Association (IQA) is set to host their annual World Quizzing Championship across multiple cities on June 1. A solo written quiz open to all ages, it will consist of 240 questions to be attempted in two hours. Questions will come from diverse topics—culture, entertainment, history, lifestyle, media, science, sports, and world—and you’ll get two rounds of one hour each so as to not tire out your brain.

So far, 12 Indian cities have signed up to host the event simultaneously on the same day. These are Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kozhikode, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Thiruvananthapuram and Coimbatore, with local quizzing associations organising and proctoring the events. More cities may join by June 1.

Prior registration on quest.quizzing.com is mandatory for the competition, and interested quizzers can sign up by paying a local fee of Rs 300.

The maiden edition of the World Quizzing Championship was held in 2003, with England’s Olav Bjortomt becoming the first World Champion. India has had two World Champions so far: Mumbai’s Vikram Joshi, who clinched the title in 2014, and Hyderabad engineer Ravikant Avva, who won in 2020.

Headquartered in London, the IQA hosts various global-level quiz competitions, including the online league ‘Quiz Nations’ and Quiz Olympiad. Apart from featuring winners, they also release global rankings for their contests on an international leaderboard.
